Get Involved — Adult Ministries

Adult Studies

Our Bible based Sunday School program runs year-round with classes for both children and adults. All Sunday morning classes begin study at 9:45am.  Adults also have the option to join weekday studies.  Nursery care is provided, insuring that parents can attend class too.

UM Women

U.M. Women meets once a month for general meetings and once a month for circle (small group) gatherings.  Their primary purpose is develop a creative, supportive fellowship and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the church. To help fund their projects they hold two rummage sales each year and the annual Christmas Bazaar.  Community projects they support are: Meals-On-Wheels, Domestic Violence Intervention, and the Churchill County Library.

Epworth Men’s Breakfast

The men of Epworth meet once a month for a breakfast gathering.  This gathering offers fellowship and sharing of life experiences. On occasion, special guest speakers or events coincide with the breakfast.  You can join as a guest or…be brave, sign up to cook.

Music

Music is an important part of our worship and celebrations.  Music is provided by our Joyful Noise Choir, the Praise Team, Margot Mills (our superb accompanist), and special performances by congregation members, handbell choirs, and our little Music N’ More children’s group.  There is always room for more people to help make music.

Coffee and Fellowship

From 9:30 to 11:00 you can always find a wonderful selection of “sweet and savory” snacks, as well as a fresh brewed cup of coffee.  This is a great time to meet new people, catch up with current friends, and fortify yourself for the Sunday School hour.  In addition, each month a “No Name Coffee Hour” is scheduled on a week day afternoon (watch bulletin and newsletter for dates).  We all have such busy lives that we plan a special time to sit and visit…no agenda…no to-do lists…just social.

Fallon Daily Bread

Each Monday and Thursday night organized groups of volunteers prepare and serve free meals to the hungry in our community.  Often the patrons are seniors or families trying to stretch their monthly budget, others are people living in circumstances that won’t allow for home cooking.  The only requirement to receive a meal is to show up.  Although Fallon Daily Bread is a ministry of Epworth, they receive support for this work through donations of time, food, and money from many individuals, church groups, and service organizations in our community.

Hospitality

If there is food involved with an event, you can bet the Hospitality Team is also involved.  They organize and arrange snacks, refreshments, and meals for a variety of events at Epworth.  From funerals to touring bicyclists this group knows how to play host and make everyone feel welcome.   The coffee is always on and the food is always good.

Levites

Our Levites Team works hand in hand with the Board of Trustees to determine areas of the building and grounds that can be repaired or improved with volunteers, thereby saving the church the expense of hiring paid professionals. Volunteers are always welcome.

Evangelism

The goal of this group is to grow the Body of Christ for God’s glory.  Inviting others to join us in worship and in special events are key elements of this plan.  We want everyone to feel warmly welcomed everytime they come through the doors of Epworth.

Mission

The Missions Committee has a goal; to show the love of God to as many people as possible by improving the conditions of their lives.  The Missions Committee raises awareness and funds by providing information, special events, and hands-on opportunities to serve with ministries that help people worldwide in the name of Christ.

Through the coordination of our Missions Committee we support the work of several missionaries and keep in touch with their needs.  The following are a few other projects we support through out the year: Smile Train, Heifer International, Habitat For Humanity, Operation Christmas Child, Sierra Service Projects, and UMVIM.

History & Archives

Epworth was founded in September of 1905.  We have a lot of stories to tell and history to record.  This team is always busy gathering, preserving, dating, and storing documents, photos, newspaper articles, or any other material that tells the story of our church.

Prayer Teams

Our members believe in the strength of prayer.  We have multiple ways for our congregation to pray for your needs:  Two telephone trees, an email tree, and a weekly mail out.   If you would like to be one of our prayer warriors, please call the office and we will get you hooked-up.  Or perhaps you would like to join a rotating team of volunteers that pray for our church, pastor, and congregation throughout a Sunday morning worship service.
